The Smartest Time to Book Spring Travel? Right Now
Experiencing nature’s rebirth in another destination is as thrilling as seeing the daffodils rise in your own garden. But you’ll want to book ahead – way ahead – to walk in awe of the floral fantasia of Sakura, the cherry blossoms of Japan.

Chidorigafuchi Park, Tokyo, Japan
In Tokyo, the gardens of Shinjuku Gyoen offer thousands of pink and white blossoms; in Osaka, Kema Sakuranomiya Park features a scenic riverbank lined with cherry petals; in the north, Aomori’s Hirosaki Park is known for its 17th-century castle surrounded by blooming trees; and on Hokkaido, Matsumae Park has 10,000 cherry trees in flower.
Sakura season is short (mid-April to early May) and extremely popular. Book now for 2026, or plan ahead for 2027. Closer to home, look for cherry blossom festivals in New York’s Central Park, Washington, D.C., Boston, Portland, and Vancouver.

Montage Big Sky | Big Sky Resort, Montana
Spring travel isn’t just about flowers. Sunny ski days with soft snow and mild temperatures are one of the season’s best-kept secrets. Choose high-elevation, snow-sure resorts and book early to secure off-peak pricing and excellent accommodations with our help. Consider Lake Louise and Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada; Big Sky Resort, Montana; Arapahoe Basin and Aspen (for the glam!) in Colorado; Mammoth Mountain in California; and Val d’Isère and Val Thorens in France.

Amanjena, Morocco
Spring is an ideal time to visit Morocco, with comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds. In Marrakech, the city’s gardens are in full bloom, and the markets are lively without being overwhelming. The High Atlas Mountains offer excellent hiking conditions, with trails lined by blossoming almond and cherry trees. This season is also ideal for exploring the Sahara before the summer heat arrives.

Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica
But if you’re ready for beach season to begin – head to Costa Rica. Spring catches the tail end of its dry season so visitors can stretch out on the sand along both Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Escape the crowds and get in some good surfing on the black sands of Playa Negra, or discover a livelier scene on the white shores of stunning Playa Conchal.
