Look Inside One of Cabo’s Chicest

broken image

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, is situated along a gorgeous stretch of beach in the Cabo San Lucas region of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The first thing you see other than the sleek open-air lobby and driftwood whale sculpture is one of the most stunning and unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez, lined with surfers and the famed El Arco in the distance. Opening in 2015, this is the first Thompson Hotel to open in Mexico.

The vibe is undeniably chic and sophisticated, synonymous with the Thompson Hotel brand. Think stained concrete floors, rich wood accents, stunning natural rock formations and sleek 70’s inspired furniture. The lobby bar, which is completely open to the sparkling emerald waters, reminds me of a swanky 70’s lounge with the sexiest lighting at night. It’s somewhere I’d want to hang out all the time.

The experience is nothing short of authentic and from the moment you walk in you are warmly welcomed and taken care of. The staff is there to help and guide you with an array of activities including diving, surfing, sea kayaking, and trips into nearby San Jose Del Cabo where you can get some great shopping in from the local vendors. You’ll never get bored though with all of the hotel happenings including yoga, spa services, culinary events and sunset DJ sets on the garden rooftop bar. I would be completely content hanging by the zero-edge pool all day reading, staring off into the ocean and watching the surfers who are there from sunrise to sunset. I also heard that during the winter months you have a front row seat to some incredible whale watching, just one more reason to return! There’s no need to worry about the view from your room either as each room has an incredible view of the ocean and El Arco. Falling asleep and waking to the sound of the waves was divine.

The Cape has certainly brought an understated sexy and hip vibe to Cabo. It’s different than your typical resort there. Thoughtful collaborations with the likes of Mexico’s acclaimed chef Enrique Olvera, who has some of the top restaurants in the world, just further the whole experience. Views alone, I’m already adding this to my “must return to” hotels list.
