Straddling the California-Nevada border, Heavenly Mountain Resort is the largest ski resort in the area. It spreads out across 4,800 acres on the lake's South Shore, with more than 34 miles of groomed runs, many of which overlook the serene blue lake. Skiers of all levels will be happy here. For non-skiers, there's tubing, sleigh rides, and the casinos are just a short gondola ride away.

With 2,000 feet of vertical drop and over 2,300 acres of terrain ranging from calm, groomed, beginner runs to hair-raising cornices and cliffs, there’s something for everyone at Kirkwood. There’s something magical that happens when storms roll into Kirkwood. Some like to say Kirkwood measures their snow in feet not inches, and others simply sum it up as the “K-Factor.” Storms come from the north and south, pick up precipitation on the west coast, funnel through a tight canyon up the Sierra Foothills and UNLOAD on Kirkwood’s perfect position. The “K-Factor” generates quality skiing and riding conditions throughout the winter season. Whether it’s a sunny California day or pure stormy bliss, Kirkwood provides fun skiing and riding in all conditions.

On the lake's North Shore, Northstar California Resort has more than 3,100 skiable acres, including 20 lifts, two gondolas and a terrain park including a 22-foot superpipe designed by Shaun White. This high-end resort area offers plenty of dining options and outdoor adventures for apres ski time.

If you're traveling with ski gear, we can even help you arrange for a ski valet to store, clean and manage your equipment when you're not whooshing down a powdery run.
